I writE high-heat romances with the kind of characters I’d want to know in real life.

I’m a Midwesterner, a recovering people pleaser, and a woman whose mouth has gotten me into trouble more than once. I identify as a cat person, neurodivergent, and an introvert—although I do love talking to strangers as long as I have enough alone time every day.

I believe in the transformative power of stories, above all else. Even (or especially) the smutty ones.

Something worse than fiction from real life:

I once dated (and slept with) two men from different states who had no reason at all to know each other. They each moved to Portland, Oregon and then became best friends, which one of them decided to tell me about.

I still shudder to envision the conversation that led them to both realize they had me in common. "Oh, I knew a girl named Eve from Yourtown once! Wait, you fucked her too??" (Kill me. I'm WAY too private for this shit.)

Hi, my name is eve

Facts About Me

I’ve been writing romance since I was in seventh grade. It all started with a Mead notebook, a Bic pen, and my friend Jodi.

Things that make my brain sparkle: Ranunculus flowers, crème brûlée, rainy summer days spent reading in bed, slutty little gold chains.

When I'm not reading or writing, I like gardening, lifting weights, knitting, watching horror movies, and listening to Australian punk music.

A note about generative AI

I don't like it. I don't want it.

I never use it for writing, and I take pains to avoid it in my marketing (when I use Canva, for example). But it's getting harder to tell what's what.

For instance, AI artwork isn't typically labeled, even on reputable stock photography sites. AI tools are built into email, design, and social platforms and the platforms don't always have the option to turn them off. So while I go out of my way to avoid using AI tools, big tech keeps making it difficult to even identify where it's being used behind the scenes.

What I can promise is this: I write every word I publish myself. I only work with human cover artists, editors,  book marketers, etc., even though it's more expensive and takes extra time, and I vet those partners to ensure they don't use AI shortcuts, either. I believe in supporting real people over big technology. Period.

I also think AI witch hunts are dumb, and have talked about it on Threads. In short: witch hunts will hurt indie authors who are trying to avoid AI worse than trad pubbed authors with bigger platforms or indie authors who don't care what people think about AI.

Here's what I think is the solution:
Give more attention to the creators you trust than you do calling out creators you don't. Attention is what's valuable. Giving AI creators negative attention is still promoting them to a wider audience. So be loud about the creators you love, and block the ones you're suspicious of.

And if you ever see me using an AI image, video, song, or recommending a book that uses AI writing or art, feel free to send me a message on my socials and let me know that one slipped through the cracks. I want to know.
